Niagara-on-the-Lake

My wife and I were up this past weekend in NOTL with her Aunt. If you don't know the place, it's a worthwhile tourist spot to check out. I'm not really hot on the shops -- but NOTL is known for being a town that loves flowers. Knowing that, I brought along the camera and took some photos. If you've done the Niagara Falls thing and have had your fill of the Vegas style commercialism, NOTL would certainly bring respite. And I think the desserts are better there.

    My wife and I have priceless memories of our wedding celebration...which was held in a georgeous location, the Riverbend Inn in Niagara on the Lake.

    Unfortunately, however, the Riverbend is fundamentally cursed in a way that haunts any wedding planner: the owner lacks commitment to customer satisfaction and staff professionalism, which leaves the quality inconsistent and the response to concerns on this matter dissapointing. Civil disobedience is called for

In an act of desperation, Tim DeCristopher chose civil disobedience to disrupt the bidding process that saw 149,000 acres of public land leased off to oil companies in Utah. The lease of the land to oil companies, to allow drilling, has been contested by many who wish to preserve the pristine land, located near Arches National Park, the White River, the greater Desolation Canyon region, Labyrinth Canyon, the benches east of Canyonlands National Park, Nine Mile Canyon, the Book Cliffs and the Deep Creek Mountains. It is one of the final sell-off by the dying Bush administration. DeCristopher showed at the auction, registered as a bidder, and started bidding -- and winning -- with no intention of purchasing or paying for the auctions he won. Way to go dude! You're a hero!
