Palin speaks the truth through lies

Yes Americans who like tea parties, you really are stupid, and this woman knows you are. The latest from Palin? On Leno, she admits that she joined Fox News because the "mainstream media is quite broken" -- in that there is too much "opinion interjected in hard news stories." Does she even listen to what comes out of her mouth? Or does she just pinch her nose and daub her lips with tissue? in reference to: "I studied journalism, my college degree there in communications. And now I am back there wanting to build some trust back in our media. I think the mainstream media is quite broken and I think there needs to be the fairness, the balance in there — that’s why I joined Fox." - Think Progress » Palin: ‘I joined Fox’ because there’s too much ‘opinion interjected in hard news’ in the mainstream media. I'm OK with this

They're Canadians. They're hockey players. This is part of what they do. Of course, I can understand why there may be some people upset. They are, after all, women. So, to those embarrassed by this, I say, go look in the mirror. These ladies are fine examples for girls all over the country.

America's poor and uneducated, continue to vote against their interests

As a Canadian, I cannot understand why there are so many Americans opposed to changing the nature of their health care system -- especially since it is expensive compared to what the rest of the developed world spends, and doesn't deliver the same quality of service to most -- unlike their developed world's counterparts. I can't understand why Americans defend the very insurance companies that gouge them on premiums, deny their claims and cancel policies. I was having a similar conversation with my youngest recently, regarding unions and their self-interest. She pointed out something that hadn't occurred to me before -- that people in general, do not like it when others make decisions for them. That is the trouble that regulators -- and politicians -- run into on a regular basis. They try to enact legislation to protect their constituents, but regularly run into vehement opposition. It's like the union members that have been given everything they wanted without...

Rush Limbaugh doesn't want to live

Image
Rush Limbaugh has finally come out and admit he has no talent and a life that is horseshit, but he doesn't have the courage to do something about it and put the rest of us out of his misery. The Onion has out done itself! in reference to: "I don't enjoy that stuff. I don't enjoy anything. I don't even want to be here. The sadness and regret I feel every waking hour of my life is absolutely unbearable. I am a miserable pig and I do not want to exist. The irony is that, even if I did die, the hell I would surely be sent to could not possibly be any worse than the bottomless pool of excrement I already paddle around in like some demented, shit-covered walrus. In fact, every time I hear my voice coming through the headphones I nearly gag, and I think, "What the fuck am I doing?" Why would I say that Michael J. Fox is faking his Parkinson's symptoms? Why would I find it funny to play a song called "Barack the Magic Negro"? Why would I tell people...

I can't believe Gaiman is a Scientologist -- or at least a reformed one -- if there is such a thing. It's a fact that I'm now, not going to forget, but will forgive, and try not to think about. Read a lengthy article on the man, published in the New Yorker, five days from now (link below). He's still one of my favourite authors. in reference to: "I can believe things that are true and I can believe things that aren't true and I can believe things where nobody knows if they're true or not. I can believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny and Marilyn Monroe and the Beatles and Elvis and Mister Ed. . . . I believe that the greatest poets of the last century were Edith Sitwell and Don Marquis, that jade is dried dragon sperm, and that thousands of years ago in a former life I was a one-armed Siberian shaman." - Neil Gaiman's fantasies : The New Yorker ( view on Google Sidewiki )

Bertrand Russell

Many people would sooner die than think; in fact, they do so. War does not determine who is right - only who is left. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt. Man is a credulous animal, and must believe something; in the absence of good grounds for belief, he will be satisfied with bad ones. Patriots always talk of dying for their country and never of killing for their country. Mathematics takes us into the region of absolute necessity, to which not only the actual word, but every possible word, must conform. Thought is subversive and revolutionary, destructive and terrible, Thought is merciless to privilege, established institutions, and comfortable habit. Thought is great and swift and free. he extraordinary autobiography of Carrie Fisher

I am truly a product of Hollywood in-breeding. When two celebrities mate, someone like me is the result. George Lucas ruined my life. And I mean that in the nicest possible way. Remember the white dress I wore all through that film? George came up to me the first day of filming, took one look at the dress and said: 'You can't wear a bra under that dress.' 'OK, I'll bite,' I said. 'Why?' And he said: 'Because ... there's no underwear in space.' He said it with such conviction. Like he had been to space and looked around and he didn't see any bras or panties anywhere. He explained. 'You go into space and you become weightless. Then your body expands but your bra doesn't, so you get strangled by your own underwear.' Among George's many possessions, he owns my likeness, so that every time I look in the mirror I have to send him a couple of bucks. That's partly why he's so rich. Funny stuff, that Carrie Fisher writes ...

Moonwalking on a grave ... thriller!

"I'm tired of the media, which spent years making fun of him, suddenly acting as if losing him is the greatest loss we've ever had to bear. And I'm so tired of the false sanctimony of those who will tell me that they are genuinely grieving." MJ is dead ... the only people who give a shit are those that will profit from his death, and those thinking up ways to profit from his death. Since I won't profit from his death, I don't give a shit. How about you?

What's there to discuss?

I tried to read a little -- I can't concentrate. Two girls are yapping in hysterics behind me. One is getting married -- although the guy apparently doesn't know yet -- and she is telling her friend that god has someone for everyone. [Sigh] I wish they would keep their plans from god to themselves. It's a ridiculous conversation -- torturous to my ears. They're both putting such store into finding a guy to get married to, and getting a ring. (What's with the Second Cup today?) Sure they can have more ambition than that -- sure they can define themselves beyond a guy -- even if he is a potential partner. Next to us, a Filipino couple have moved in -- and we've picked up and moved along. They are an older and younger women -- and they're discussing the Bible . They're being very studious about it -- the older one seems to be tutoring the younger one on the finer points of misogyny -- and how to embrace it. 1 Corinthians 14:34: Women should rem...

Why so sour?

I'm sitting at the Second Cup in Centerpoint Mall , waiting for my wife to finish a few errands. She thankfully saved me the shopping experience. It's crowded here, and I just slid my table over to separate it from the twosome it was in so an older couple could have sitting room beside me. The lady of the couple sat down, while he ordered the lattes. She has a small Peoples bag. When she sat, he asked her -- or rather, commented -- "You wouldn't be happy until you got that ring, would you?" I think he just got her the diamond on her left hand. Since she's been sitting here, she's had a sour look on her face. When I moved the table over, she stared at me -- an ugly look on her face. Sheesh -- are you constipated lady? Would it hurt people to be a little more friendly to the world? Anyway, I smiled at her -- she stared at me. (Maybe it's the goofie I'm wearing.) On the subject of diamonds. I find out from the conversation I overhear, ...
