End of Auditing in Iraq

You've got to wonder when the Republican debacle in the US will come to an end. Are people in America so unaware that will continue to vote Republicans into power? The latest salvo to bring an end of the tyranny is news that the Office of the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction will be closed in 2007. Why? Who knows. Chances are however, that its findings of corruption in the reconstruction of Iraq may be embarrassing for the presidency of George W. Bush.

What could be so embarrassing? How about 14,000 weapons that were destined by Iraqi forces, that simply disappeared while in possession of Halliburton? The weapons are believed to have fallen into the hands of the insurgents. Then there are the 25 criminal cases that the audit office has referred to the US Justice Department -- and the withholding of information from the auditors by Halliburton. The list goes on. But will Americans wake up?
