Fulla Doll

BrooklynKat over at Just to the Left, has posted a little story about the hottest doll for girls in the Muslim world. Instead of girls in the Middle East having to contend with "the anorexic blond-bimbo Barbie" -- they now have Fulla -- as anorexic as Barbie, but, with "Muslim values." Translation: Fulla knows her place in a man's world; in a Muslim world. She comes complete with a black abaya, head scarf and prayer mat -- and if she steps out of line, or catches the eye of a boy, she will be severely beaten, tortured and killed for dishonouring her doll line. Fulla is a Muslim doll for the ages.

  1. this is so not true ... looks like you've never been to the muslim/arab world before, and if you did then you must be blind&deaf ... don't try to prove the opposite because you can never know about islam more than me, i'm a 24 years old muslim girl lived in different arab countries & visited many others, wearing hejab was my own decision in the age of "18", all my siblings are boys and i do whatever i want such as study/work/hanging-out/etc., i have best friends from both genders and my family knows them very well, been in love (not sexualy) ... bottom line, muslim girls are just like any girls around this world, our religion never blocked us from living our lives and not knowing about this fact makes you ignorant

sorry if my comment wasn't nice ... i don't even like this doll, but i really felt offended by your words

  2. You're an idiot if you wear a hejab of your own choosing. If you're a real Muslim, then you should study the fucking Koran before mouthing off gibberish. Nowhere in the Koran does it speak of women needing to, or necessarily having to wear clothing to be modest. Know your religion; know your gender; and know what choices you have to make, and what choices you allow others to make for you.

And I'm not at all sorry if my response wasn't nice. I'm choosing to be intolerant of intolerance.

Wake up. You're doing your gender and religion a disservice.

  3. Just typical. Yet another lewd Western who can't stand the idea of a modest girl who DOESN'T want to be judged by her body. And EXCUSE me, the Quran asks us to be modest, lengthen our clothing, and not reveal our bodies to all. No one is 'making that girl's decision for her'. She shows self-discipline and modesty, unlike many others. Open up any girls' site, and what to you get? Girls doing nothing but trying to look like celebrities, do up their bodies to please men like YOU. This is why you get overweight teen girls hanging themselves. Barbie's been criticized for 50 years, and it's time a better doll came out.

  4. This is ignorant and stupid. I am not a Muslim but it;s Islamaphobic, and not very original.

  5. i am intolerant of intolerance,,,, so ur idea of tolerance is blending in to this society thats puts ample pressure on females to be objects. The hejab covers up the woman therefore more of the person in her shows, therefore, u judge her by her personality not her looks. (if she wears it modestly)
