Mac SuperComputer
It's in line to be the third fastest supercomputer in the world, sustaining a speed of 8.7 teraflops -- and it's built from off the shelf Macs. I kid you not. The VirginiaTech Terascale Cluster, consists of 1,100 Apple Macs, each with two 64-bit IBM CPUs. The whole system cost around $5m -- cheap in the world of supercomputing.
