Disaster Tourism
I was just alerted to this by a post on the CC site. Apparently a different sort of tourism is taking off in Thailand -- disaster tourism. Tourists are wandering around taking pictures of the disaster zone, peering under rubble and wrecked buildings -- the Globe and Mail describes them as "enthusiastically snapping photos." The Thais are none too happy about it -- but it's ironic, these 'tourists' also bring much need tourist dollars. Yes folks, for some of these idiots, there's nothing like watching and recording some suffering to send home to family and friends.
