More on Teilhard
I just got a ping that someone had commented on a post regarding Teilhard Technologies and their obtaining of patents pertaining to some of the basics of ETL methods -- so I decided to see what Teilhard has been up to lately. Well, things just get worse. In a move that is a akin to Saruman joining the ranks of Sauron, Brian Mulroney -- who gave in to the power of the ring a long time ago -- has joined the ranks of Teilhard.
Mulroney has joined Teilhard as a special advisor to "provide strategic advice with a specific mandate to assist the Company in optimizing, for its shareholders, the value of its integration patents and software." In other words, Mulroney [PDF] will be whoring the network he gained whilst serving himself as Prime Minister, for Teilhard's gain. Teilhard's intentions aren't hard to spot either -- on their website, they specifically listed their legal team -- separate from the management team. They're going to ask you nicely for some money for using what is now their intellectual property, and if they don't get it, they're going to turn to the courts.

I still don't understand your interest in this story. As I stated from my previous comment, i have been involved as an investor for 2 years and there is more than meets the eye. What angle are you coming from?
ReplyDeletethanks
Anonymous -- see my comments in the other post. You seem to be very interested in why I'm interested. I'm just the general public. This stuff interests me. I happen to use ETL tools, and I'm in the IT sector. I happen to be bothered by Teilhard's motives. They're suspect. They appear to be criminal, although quite legal. They've employed Mulroney -- some would call that dastardly. I would agree.
ReplyDeleteYou seem very motivated to understand my motives. I'm curious as to yours. If you're an investor in Teilhard, chances are you're going to make a killing as they pass around their collection plate for the hard earned dollars of other firms. If you have any moral fibre, you won't want to make your money that way.
So, what's your motive?
just as i thought....I'm disappointed. you're a spoiled, self serving brat with no real original thought. You like to talk but only to hear your voice. My motives were simple. Why would you care about some puny insignificant company with a patent unless you had a stake somewhere. I invested hard earned money just like any other investor in a private company, with the hope that i might get some return. What moral fiber do i need to justify that? Take money from others???how about the companies that are making obscene profits on the patent i invested in? and what about their moral fiber? twerp..I was looking for intelligent conversation and i end up with you.
ReplyDeleteOh, now there is a good come back.
ReplyDeleteNurse, scalpel please!
"you're a spoiled, self serving brat with no real original thought."Well, not really. I wish I was spoiled. In fact, I welcome it! Someone spoil me please! Send money, I'm poor! :) Oh, that's good! Resort to name calling when faced with someone with a different opinion than yourself. Not willing to enter into a debate. You didn't even have the intestinal fortitude to state your position when you started your little exploration. What were you looking for? Were you hoping for someone on the other end of this thread that would titillate you and your little money making fantasy? Did you expect me to salivate at your hinting of the 2 years of unscrupulous investing in Teilhard? Go lubricate your own fantasies!
"You like to talk but only to hear your voice."Actually, I heard yours. I saw you were playing coy with me. Made me feel unclean. I took a shower. I welcomed the debate -- I was interested in your thoughts, regardless of how mind-numbing it could have been. Instead, you spoiled it with name calling. Quite juvenile, and only proves that you like to hear your own voice. After all, that is what you wanted of me. You wanted someone to prostitute their opinions for you. You gotta pay money for that, buster! It ain't free!
"My motives were simple."Yes, I know now. You just wanted to hear some slut echo your opinion. I'm not going to play one for you!
"Why would you care about some puny insignificant company with a patent unless you had a stake somewhere."I didn't. I don't. I could care less about Teilhard. That was just until you decided to insult me. Now I'm going to scrutinize Teilhard and be very opinionated about what I find. Remember, I posted one short post back in July 2004. I didn't care about this until you came trolling. I had no stake. Now, I plan on eviscerating Teilhard.
"I invested hard earned money just like any other investor in a private company, with the hope that i might get some return."That's a good story -- and it makes it so alright, does it? Lots of other people have invested their livelihoods, their dreams and their sweat to see their ETL software develop, grow and gain market share. Along comes a greedy vulture, with a professional swindler, to pick their bones clean. What seems right to you in that picture? You're no better than a common thief.
"how about the companies that are making obscene profits on the patent i invested in?"Which planet are you from? The patents in question are patents for a basic method. The method is communication. Teilhard has no right to it. They just managed to bamboozle an inept patent office. That's like patenting the sending of interoffice memos. You invested in a rotten company that wants to profit from others work. That's stealing. You're complaining that you're not allowed to steal conveniently? Get a grip on those gonads!
"twerp"Twit!
"I was looking for intelligent conversation and i end up with you."Ha! I think you were looking for a bitch and got pimped instead!
And in case you're wondering how safe you are with the anonymity, think again. Servers have logs. They know everything.
still wrong and i'm done
ReplyDeleteI knew it! He, she, it? couldn't resist!
ReplyDeleteLooking for a friend, are we?
was...how old are you with that attitude...12?
ReplyDeleteActually, 12 and a half!
ReplyDeleteCan we start calling each other names again -- I'm trying to be more grown up like you!
(And you can't resist, admit it!)
I can't fathom why people get so worked up over this company when the only news anyone can find on them is a pissing match by someone with an obvious vested interest and a blog moderator whom takes great pride in pointing out the obvious and stating what Teilhard Technologies staff/shareholders don't want to hear or believe! Hats off to Dabydeen!
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that the staff/shareholders knew more then the rest of the world would like to think...

Hmm ... maybe they did no more. Perhaps they did know that the courts are so buggered when it comes to technology process patents, that they knew they had a chance of success. Who knows? The thing with patent suits is that you can never be sure of a right or a wrong. (Yes, I'm actually leaving it open for Teilhard to be on the right.) It's usually up to court interpretation, which changes as the wind blows.
ReplyDeleteI'm however, very firm in the opinion that Teilhard is wrong and the whole ETL claim is just bogus. They hired Mulroney. Any company that does that is up to no good.
