Fly Power

And now, for something completely different. Flies -- don't swat them, harness them. These guys claim to have model airplane kits for sale that are powered by the common fly. Basically, they provide you with a little paper airplane for US$5.95, then tell you to go catch a fly and tie it to the airplane. The fly then takes off and drags the airplane along with it. Sounds dumb? It is. The only thing dumber than it are the morons who will send a check to Tom Fetterman of Southhampton, PA, for his creation. I'm sure you can assemble a paper airplane at home. Good luck in catching the fly however, then attaching it to the paper airplane and getting it to fly. Reminds me of the cockroach killer -- two rocks and instructions to catch the cockroaches and smack them between the rocks. Bigger seller that was.

Civil disobedience is called for

In an act of desperation, Tim DeCristopher chose civil disobedience to disrupt the bidding process that saw 149,000 acres of public land leased off to oil companies in Utah. The lease of the land to oil companies, to allow drilling, has been contested by many who wish to preserve the pristine land, located near Arches National Park, the White River, the greater Desolation Canyon region, Labyrinth Canyon, the benches east of Canyonlands National Park, Nine Mile Canyon, the Book Cliffs and the Deep Creek Mountains. It is one of the final sell-off by the dying Bush administration. DeCristopher showed at the auction, registered as a bidder, and started bidding -- and winning -- with no intention of purchasing or paying for the auctions he won. Way to go dude! You're a hero!
