The Inauguration

Thus far, the party to usher George W. into office he already holds is tallying up to be a whopper. Estimates put the cost to be around US$50 million. Power to the people. They who wanted a cowboy in office can rest assured that the cowboy will remember them, especially after the lavish party is over. George W. has good memory, he will remember his friends -- after all, his friends are the ones that have thus far ponied up over US$13 for his celebratory bash -- as of last Friday -- and that's only counting the major donors, who's gift ranged from $250,000 to a lowly $10,000. Think George W. will remember those that elected him? Of course he will. But you see kiddies, leadership is about making compromises. It's about bringing the differing opinions together and doing the right thing for the nation. No way is it about handing out favours.
Meanwhile, halfway around the world ... hell, even down in the streets of Washington ... US$50 million could mean so much. But who cares anyway?
