(Another Baseline article.) Here's a communications view of the Mars rover missions of Spirit and Opportunity. Things tend go wrong on planetary missions. No one can predict what will happen once our robots and spacecrafts arrive at their destinations -- but how do you go about a rescue mission when you can't really travel there in a hurry to fix things? Communications, it turns out, tends to be quite important.
