Killer Staph

As the world continues to wage war on bacteria, the tiny critters are slowly building up their arsenal against us -- they're evolving, adapting -- and the signs are starting to crop up that they might beat us the war, even though they lose the battles. Staphylococcus aureus is stepping out of the breeding grounds of hospitals and moving into the streets, where you and I can easily get infected by it -- and so far, our weapons are quickly losing their potency. The bacteria is already immune to the best we have in our arsenal, and has the ability to disguise itself from our immune system, as well as co-opt the DNA from other bacteria -- think of it as the Borg of the bacteria world. Once inside our bodies, the bacteria will kill at a rate of 45-43%.
