Lord of Illusions

Clive Barker's words don't translate well to movies. This movie is an adaptation from one of his short stories. It stars some actors that have now become big names -- Scott Bakula and Famke Janssen. The movie follows private-eye, Bakula, as he uncovers the mystery of a demonic cult leader named Nix, who may have achieved eternal life -- even though he was supposedly killed by former followers, who thought he was taking the whole business a tad too seriously. Bakula's private-eye gets worked over by various members of Nix's cult bent on bringing the not-so-dead Nix back to life, while Janssen plays a love interest that just isn't believable -- in this movie, her only role appears to be to wear see-through tops and to appear topless in the film -- hey, if you want to see the future Phoenix's breasts, this is the movie for you! Except that it'll probably make you wet your pants. ;-)
